Storm and wind damage

Storm damage repaired, documented and handled honestly

From a few wind lifted shingles to an actively leaking roof, we repair the damage, photograph everything, and give you a straight answer on whether your insurance claim is worth filing at all.

Active leaks come first · Answered seven days a week

Wind is the storm that matters in Central NJ

Our area rarely sees hail. What it sees every year, mostly October through April, are nor’easters with sustained 40 to 60 mph winds and gusts past 70, plus summer thunderstorms and the occasional hurricane remnant. Those winds crease shingles, break sealant bonds and lift edges, damage that often cannot be seen from the ground and gets worse with every following storm.

After every significant wind event we inspect affected neighborhoods with priority scheduling. If you found shingles in the yard, see a stain spreading on a ceiling, or a neighbor pointed at something from the street, that is exactly what the free storm inspection is for.

Our storm response, in order

1

Stop the water

Active leaks go ahead of the quotes and the checkups, with a tarp when it is needed, before any paperwork or sales conversation.

2

Document everything

Photo documentation of all damage, timestamped and organized, whether or not a claim ends up being filed. Evidence first, decisions second.

3

Honest claim triage

We tell you plainly whether the damage justifies a claim or whether a straightforward repair is the smarter path. Your deductible and claim history are part of that math.

If it turns out not to be the storm

That is the usual outcome, and it is worth saying plainly. Most leaks we are called to in Central New Jersey are a failed flashing joint, an ice dam or shingles that had already lost their seal, and wind simply found them first. Those are not claims, they are roof repairs, and they are usually a fraction of what people fear. If the roof really has reached the end, roof replacement sets out what a full job includes and what it costs.

Storm damage and insurance questions

Shingles blew off my roof during a storm. Will it leak?

Not necessarily today, but the underlayment now exposed is not designed to be the waterproof layer for long. Missing shingles should be addressed within days, not months. We can usually make a targeted repair quickly, and we document the damage with photos first in case a claim is relevant.

Should I file an insurance claim for roof damage?

Only when the numbers make sense: real storm damage whose repair cost meaningfully exceeds your deductible. Filing borderline claims can affect future premiums, and wear related issues are not covered at all. This is exactly why we inspect and document first, then tell you honestly whether what we found is claim worthy. Sometimes the honest answer is that it is not, and that answer is free.

Will filing a roof claim increase my insurance premium?

It can, which is one of the most common homeowner worries we hear. Weather claims are treated differently than negligence claims, but claim history still matters in pricing, and that is part of why borderline claims are usually not worth filing. We give you the damage documentation and an honest read; the filing decision stays yours.

What wind speed damages a roof?

Sustained winds above roughly 60 mph are typically considered damaging and claimable events. But gusts in the 40 to 60 mph range, which Central NJ sees in nor’easters every fall and winter, routinely lift and crease shingles on roofs past their midlife. Damage from those storms is often invisible from the ground.

How fast can you get here after a storm?

Active leaks go to the front of the queue, ahead of the quotes and the checkups, with a tarp over the roof if the weather will not wait. Checkups with no active leak are usually scheduled within days. We read messages seven days a week, and a person answers the phone Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, with an automated assistant taking your details outside those hours. We are not a 24 hour call out service, so the earlier you reach us the sooner we get to you.

A door knocker says my roof has storm damage. What should I do?

Do not sign anything on the spot, especially an assignment of benefits. After NJ storms, out of area crews canvass neighborhoods and pressure homeowners into claims and contracts. Get an independent, photo documented assessment from a local licensed roofer first. If the knocker was right, our photos will show the same thing, and you keep control of your claim and your contractor choice.
